Vietnam Airlines Corporation has recently released its 2025 consolidated financial statements, along with updates on its operations in the first quarter of 2026 and its management direction amid complex developments in the international market, especially the impact of the conflict in the Middle East. The airline aims to maintain double-digit growth momentum this year.

According to the reviewed report, Vietnam Airlines recorded positive results in key indicators in 2025. The carrier operated more than 156,000 flights, carried over 25.6 million passengers, and transported more than 340,000 tonnes of cargo, up around 11% from the previous year and exceeding its plan.

On the back of output growth, consolidated revenue reached roughly 121.4 trillion VND, while consolidated after-tax profit exceeded 7.6 trillion VND. The parent company recorded revenue of around 96.5 trillion VND and after-tax profit of more than 5.4 trillion VND.

These results reflect a clear recovery in travel demand, while also showing the effectiveness of large-scale expansion of the international flight network, strengthened operational discipline, optimised flight frequencies, controlled costs, and improved cash-flow management.

Improving service quality, moving towards 5-star standards

The year 2025 also marked a shift in improving service quality, towards the goal of achieving 5-star standards before 2030. Vietnam Airlines accelerated the implementation of innovation and digital transformation solutions; introduced in-flight internet services; standardised services at Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport; and applied biometric procedures through the VNeID application, helping to shorten processing times and improve the passenger experience.

The airline also launched a range of new products and services, including Check-in Lounge facilities, the development of its signature fragrance “Nha”, and the opening of Lotus Lounges in Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Da Nang, gradually completing a premium-standard service ecosystem.

These efforts have been recognised through numerous domestic and international awards, including certificates of merit from the prime minister.

Maintaining growth momentum in the first quarter of 2026

Entering 2026, the aviation sector continued to face many difficulties and challenges. However, in the first quarter, the market still recorded positive growth signals. International passenger volume was estimated at 13.5 million, up 16%, while the domestic market reached around 9.95 million passengers, up 9.6% year on year.

Vietnam Airlines estimates that it operated nearly 43,000 flights in the first three months of the year, up 11%, carrying nearly 6.9 million passengers, up nearly 12%, ensuring an operating pace aligned with market developments.

The carrier remains committed to its double-digit growth target in 2026, contributing to macroeconomic stability.

Under cost pressure, especially rising fuel prices caused by the situation in the Middle East, from the second quarter of 2026, the airline proactively developed flexible management scenarios, optimised its network on key routes, strictly controlled costs, and improved the efficiency of fleet operations. Upholding its role as the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines continues to maintain connectivity and promote trade, tourism, and international economic integration. The firm remains committed to its double-digit growth target in 2026, contributing to macroeconomic stability.

In the coming period, the airline will closely monitor market developments and the geopolitical situation, manage operations flexibly, focus on ensuring absolute safety, maintain the stability of its flight network, control costs, and improve the efficiency of resource use, thereby ensuring smooth air transport operations amid continued volatility.
